Whirlwind - #AtoZChallenge #AprilA2Z #Writerslife #Blogging

There are just three days left in the A to Z Blog Challenge and it's truly been a whirlwind. I haven't added up my total word count so far but I would imagine I've averaged at least 500 words per day to date. And let's not forget I'm a single mom with a very busy life! But this challenge proved both a distraction and an opportunity.

I have two full length manuscripts I'm working on and this challenge certainly gave me an excuse to do something else than the hard work of slogging through the middle section of a first draft. On the other hand, it forced me to be accountable to write daily about something! I chose romantic and sometimes erotic flash fiction. I've never written flash fiction before, in fact I didn't even know what it was until I started this challenge. It was hard to set scenes efficiently and keep things under 600 words. Sometimes I went over and sometimes I was able to keep it short. But the bottom line is that I learned something about my myself. I learned that I'm a writer. Which truly was my ultimate goal.

I didn't get a lot of comments. No one started following my blog (as far as I know). Out of 22 blog posts I only got a few likes on Twitter. But again, I wasn't expecting anything in that regard. My goal was to challenge myself to write something. And I did that. I still have X, Y, and Z left. So there's still time to collect some comments and get some likes on Twitter. But either way, I know today for sure that I. AM. A. WRITER. Simply because I write. So as far as I'm concerned, it's mission accomplished!

Stay tuned for my blog post tomorrow. I have no idea what I'm going to write about except that the title has to start with the letter X. I'm open to suggestions!

And if anyone is wondering what my plans are as far as blogging goes after the A to Z Blogging Challenge is over, I can tell you that it probably won't be blogging daily! But for sure I will be talking about Outlander and posting excerpts from my upcoming novels, posting whatever the hell is on my mind that I feel the need to write about! So let's just say at least once a week for now! Honestly, I am chomping at the bit to get back to my precious manuscripts Her Protector and Tristan's Song.

That's all I've got for now. Thanks for reading!
